ABOUT
Hi! It's nice to meet you!
I'm Lynette, the creator of Life's Better In Yoga Pants! I split my time between NYC and The Catskills, own a PR and digital marketing agency I started in 2016, and a Pilates series that launched in the same year.
This blog has evolved over and over again since I launched it 12 years ago in 2012 and I'm looking forward to this version.
My professional and personal life mesh together, with a focus on health, wellness, fitness, and nutrition, but that doesn't mean I don't let my hair down every so often. Balance should be a key pillar for all of us!
In this iteration of Life's Better In Yoga Pants, you'll discover new products I love, recipes I'm trying that are delicious and have nutritional value, the ways that I fit in training while having a full-time job (not a full-time influencer or content creator friends! I'm old school), how mental health and self-care play a role in my life, and more!
My inbox is always open so if there's something you'd like to see more of, or less of, shoot me a note.
Thanks for coming along for the ride!
xo,
Lynette
A Few of My Favorite Things
Running
I graduated college in May 2011, and to lose my college weight (and save money), I was trying to do more biking vs driving when I could.
In June 2011, I got hit by a car while biking back from the grocery store. I was grateful that nothing major happened, and after a summer in a walking boot I had use of both legs. Though to this day, my left ankle is a bit chunkier than my right, and the front is still numb!
I was still a broke graduate at the end of summer so being thankful about having full use of my feet/legs, I decided to start running and signed up for my first Turkey Trot in November 2011.
20+ half marathons, 5 full marathons, and countless 5Ks, 10Ks, and obscure distances later, I haven't looked back.
Hiking
I went for my first hike in the Adirondacks when I was in college, and I, a beach girl from Long Island, did not love it. Barefoot in the mud on a summer day? Always. In a mountain with no cell service? At the time, not for me!
Until my early 20-mid 20s when it was. Catch me now working my way through a list of 3500'ers and 14'ers.
Snowboarding
My two best friends in college informed me in late fall 2008 that if I don't plan to learn a snow sport, I'll be doing a lot of sitting alone on the weekends for the next few months.
A trip to the rental shop and a shove down a small hill later, I had a season pass in hand and was a falling leaf on the bunny hill at Whiteface.
After taking a break and unlearning some bad habits, I'm now a big fan of cruising groomers and hitting the park.
I'm the proud owner of a full Epic pass. My home mountain is Hunter and I always take at least one trip out west each season.
Pilates
I was introduced to Pilates in college and didn't discover its true benefits until years later.
I got my mat certification through CORE Pilates NYC with the intention of hosting pop-ups in different places, and teach outside.
And that's exactly what I ended up doing! Today Hellgate Pilates is 8 years old and I've taught for large-scale events as well as been commissioned for private parties and corporate sessions.
The regular season runs Memorial Day through Labor Day in Astoria, NY and The Catskills.
Cooking
Cooking has always made me happy, and cooking for others is one of my favorite things to do. One might call it my love language!
When I graduated college and needed to lose all the weight I gained is when I really explored it more.
I love digging into a new recipe, healthy or indulgent, and hosting dinner parties.
My absolute favorite things to make are homemade pasta and homemade pizza.
Traveling
I'm not described as someone who sits still for long and you usually won't find me where you left me even if you asked me to stay there.
I've gone on family vacations since I was young, then travel baton twirling competitions turned into extended trips, and in adulthood, I've turned destination races into exploring new cities and countries.
Whether it's a quick weekend trip, or a month in Europe, I'm the first to say let's go!
Recovery
In the past few years, as I've gotten older, I've emphasized recovery, including hydration.
My go-to physical items are my Theragun and Therabody compression boots (both old models and were on sale!), paired with sleep, adequate nutrition, and active rest.
Socializing
I am an extrovert and probably the reason why if you come talk to me during the workday, you end up not getting any work done.
Given that my college degree and career is in the communications field, it shouldn't come as a surprise that I value connecting offline, in-person. So don't hesitate to reach out to set up a coffee or run date!
